Fort Good Hope - Radili Koe (rapids)

Fort Good Hope is located 20 miles south of the Arctic Circle and 88 miles northwest of Norman Wells, approximately one half hour flying time. The community was originally founded by the Northwest Company in 1805 making it one of the oldest communities in the territory. It is home to Our Lady of Good Hope a national historic site. The church, which has beautiful paintings inside, was built in the 19th century by Catholic priest and missionary Father Emile Petitot between 1865 and 1885. The town is situated on the Mackenzie River and offers beautiful sightseeing trips of the Rampart rapids. North-Wright Airways services Fort Good Hope Monday through Saturday from Norman Wells and three days per week out of Inuvik.
